An extremely fast-growing sector, with hundreds of manufacturers ranging from small workshops producing items for the luxury market to large textile mills making millions of metres of fabric a year. Our chemicals are used for a vast range of applications, from dyeing, washing and whitening to creating flame retardant and water-repellent fabrics.
The chemicals we supply for use in the textile sector include:
The solution of sodium hydroxide, caustic soda is used in the manufacture of soaps, dyes, paper, petrol products and polymers. Widely used in the majority of commercial oven and drain cleaners, it can also be used to clean process pipes, tanks, equipment, tanks and containers as it acts as a strong degreaser, descaler and pH adjuster.
Other applications including within the electroplating industry, as a laboratory reagent, to clean and process metal and as an effluent treatment.
The solid form of caustic soda is used widely in the paper and pulp industry. Also used in aluminium production, fuel production and refining, paints and surface treatments, as well as within solvents, dyes and adhesives.
A versatile chemical mainly used within the agricultural industry as a preservative and additive in animal feed and silage. Also used by within the textile industry and for adhesives, plastics, rubber, construction materials, paints and as a surface agent.
Widely used in industrial and chemical processes, hydrochloric acid has a large number of applications from battery production to steel production to leather treatment. It is used to hydrolyse starch and proteins during food preparation, as a chemical reagent for plastics and as a cleaner. Hydrochloric acid can also be used within the rubber, textile and photographic industries.
Also known as orthophosphoric acid, phosphoric acid is used in a wide range of products such as agricultural feed and fertilisers, soft drinks, dyes and soaps. It can also be used in dentistry and cosmetics. The food industry uses it to sharpen tastes in sugar-based food products and to act as a preservative as it slows bacterial and mould growth.
A versatile chemical primarily used as a bleaching or disinfecting agent, sodium hypochlorite is used in the manufacture of paper and pulp, non-pesticidal agricultural chemicals, plasticisers and corrosion inhibitors, as well as commercial bleaches and laundry aids.
With uses across the brewing, dairy and food industry, sodium hydroxide solution is utilised as a strong principal chemical base as a drain cleaner and in the manufacture of drinking water, soaps and detergents, textiles, pulp and paper. The granules and flakes are easily dissolvable in water with heat release and are also soluble in methyl and ethyl alcohols.
Sodium metabisulphite, also known as sodium pyrosulphite, is a salt of sulphurous acid, mainly used as an antioxidant and preservative to prevent the enzymatic and bacterial spoilage of food. Also used for the sterilisation of equipment, or as a disinfectant. Other uses include in water treatment, textiles, pulp processing, gas purification and within the leather industry.
Also known as aminosulphonic acid, sulphamic or sulfamic acid is commonly used as a de-scaling and cleaning agent. This chemical has many applications, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry. Used as a catalyst for the esterification process, it also has some uses in dye manufacturing.
